Unfortunately many of them never recorded, consequently little is known of how the first jazz really sounded. The inspiration for all New Orleans musicians therefore first of all comes from the New Orleans Revival, which started in the early 40’s with the recordings made by Bill Russell the writer and authority on New Orleans Jazz. These recordings include the now legendary musicians like Bunk Johnson, George Lewis, Jim Robinson, Kid Thomas Valentine and many more.
